Badminton is an Olympic sport that is played in about 151 countries on all five continents of the world. The sport has been played in Zimbabwe for a number of years now.
The current Badminton Association of Zimbabwe was established on January 19, 2008, in accordance with the local legal statutes. This was done with the intervention of the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) in direct consultation with the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC), and other badminton stakeholders.
The Badminton Association of Zimbabwe has a mandate to regulate the sport in the country and to set up a capacity development plan that should see the running and nurturing of school leagues, clubs in schools, universities, uniformed and civil services, the corporate sector, and the Zimbabwean community at large.
